Our underwater journey continued in the next months. The first prototype brought us the results we wanted but we still had a lot of work ahead of us.
OK, so we basically had a breadboard card with an antenna and we needed to place all this into a tiny case. Easier said than done.
Our underwater journey continued in the next months. The first prototype brought us the results we wanted but we still had a lot of work ahead of us.
OK, so we basically had a breadboard card with an antenna and we needed to place all this into a tiny case. Easier said than done.
We got to deal with one more issue. Bone conduction speakers. We ordered a dozen different sizes and capacities and began to check which one gives the maximum power at small sizes. The team stopped at a large and quite loud speaker, which was inserted right away in the case.
It was unbelievable how this speaker consumed the entire battery in 15 minutes. Turn out it was too powerful but so far it was not important because the purpose of this prototype was to fit in a small case not being super autonomous.
A month later the first “tank” was assembled and it had a 50 meters range of action. It was not enough. So we started to reinforce our army with new versions: 2.1., 2.3., 2.43 and so on. The antenna was finally tuned. It picked up 650 feet in the air. The speaker worked reasonably well and the battery could hold for half an hour.
Our little tank won this battle, but how about we win the war?
